PRE-SAFE® (anticipatory occupant protection)
PRE-SAFE® is able to detect certain critical driving
situations and implement pre-emptive measures
to protect the vehicle occupants.
PRE-SAFE® can implement the following measures
independently of each other:
- Tightening the seat belts on the driver's seat
and front passenger seat.
- Increasing brake pressure when the vehicle
is stationary. This brake application is canceled
automatically when the vehicle pulls
away.
If an accident did not occur, the pre-emptive
measures that were taken are reversed.
System limits
The system will not initiate any action in the following
situations:
or
- When the vehicle is towing a trailer and there
is a risk of a rear impact
The system will not initiate any braking application
in the following situations:
or
- When entering or exiting a parking space
while using Active Parking Assist
PRE-SAFE® is able to detect certain critical driving

Other information:
The automatic front passenger airbag shutoff is
able to detect whether the front passenger seat
is occupied by a person or a child restraint system.
The front passenger airbag is enabled or
disabled accordingly.
WARNING Risk of injury or death due to
objects under the co-driver seat
Objects trapped under the co-driver seat can
interfere with the function of the automatic
co-driver airbag shutoff or damage the system...
Function of Active Lane Keeping Assist
Active Lane Keeping Assist monitors the area in
front of your vehicle by means of the multifunction
camera. It serves to protect
you against unintentionally leaving your lane.
You will be warned by vibration pulses in the
steering wheel and guided by a course-correcting
brake application back into your lane...
